The Film Adds Action To The Family Comedy
Although the circumstances of Hank's job creates the premise for the film, The Holiday Hitman is a comic family film at its core.
The movie's purpose is to depict Hank's struggle in attempting to reconcile his family while keeping his other, secret life, from destroying his family relationships.
This means that in addition to attempting to resolve its family problems, the movie also attempts to resolve an action movie's problems.
While he works to resolve the people chasing him, he also must try to persuade his family that their Christmas vacation hasn't completely fallen apart. The contrast is intentionally absurd.
Holiday decorations, family traditions, and an extravagant vacation are juxtaposed against the conventions of an action thriller. The result is a film that presents escalating danger and uses humor to inject a playful tone.
The exact resolution of Hank's marriage and the bounty are best left to the movie.
